Concert Choir is a non-auditioned beginning-level choir, grades 9-12. All incoming freshman sing in this choir. Currently, the Concert Choir is split into two sections, one for the Tenors and Basses (Bass Choir) and one for Sopranos and Altos (Treble Choir).
Chorale is an auditioned ensemble, performing advanced-level SSAA literature. It is open for students in 10-12 grade. The Chorale recently participated in the Illinois ACDA Women’s Chorus Festival and the ILMEA Ensemble Festival.
Mixed Chorale is an auditioned ensemble, open to students in grades 10-12, performing advanced-level SATB literature. Formed in 2015-2016, the Mixed Chorale were invited guests at the John Davis Invitational Choral Festival at Bradley University and have participated in the ILMEA Ensemble Festival.
Chamber Choir is the highest-level auditioned mixed ensemble, open to 10-12 graders. Formed in the 2015-2016 school year, this choir is also the main ensemble featured at the annual Madrigal Dinners. They are also the main touring ensemble of the choir program.
Travel: the NCHS choirs take a choir trip every other year. In 2018, the choirs toured New York City. Other recent trips have taken us to Orlando, Memphis, New Orleans, San Antonio, the Bahamas, Toronto, and Washington, DC.
Court Singers is an auditioned group of singers who perform at the annual madrigal dinners. This group is considered a training ensemble for the madrigals, and rehearse / perform during the fall semester. Auditions for Court Singers are held in August, and are open to students in all grades, 9-12.
Key of She is an auditioned a cappella group for girls. Their repertoire covers a wide variety of popular music. Auditions for Key of She are held in May, and the group is open to students in 10-12 grade.
Voice Male is an auditioned a cappella group for boys. Their repertoire covers a wide variety of popular music. Auditions for Voice Male are held in May, and the group is open to students in grades 10-12.
Musical: the annual school musical is produced by the music department.
