Choir Concert Shirts & Spirit Wear Available NOW!

Our
webstore for NCHS choir spirit wear is now open through October 26!   For the time being, we will not be performing in our usual robe/tux/dress formal attire for performances. Therefore, I am asking that all students have any of the shirts with design A for the performance. It doesn't matter if you have the t-shirt, hoodie, crew neck, or long-sleeved tee...just anything with Design A (the black shirts with block letters).  We will wear those shirts and jeans for our performances this year. If it is a financial hardship for your family, please let me know - I have funds set aside to help with those who need it. I will order a t-shirt for you!  (If you still have your shirt from last year and it looks fine, you don't need to order another one)

We have 2 other new designs available for you this year, including a "Social DistanSING" shirt! : )

All orders and payment are handled online through our store, and shirts will be delivered to the school in early November. Anyone can purchase apparrel - students, parents, grandparents, alumni...anyone! : ) Store closes on October 26, so order now!

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! Although this is not at all how I was hoping our year would begin, I am committed to helping you grow as musicians and continue our tradition of building community through music.

NEXT WEEK:

We will begin next week with every class meeting on Monday during your assigned choir period, so please make sure to join your Google Classroom for your choir period. We have sent invitations to Google Classroom to your student email, but in case you didn’t receive it, look in your email for your code. Parents, you are welcome to also join in the Google Classroom page to keep up on assignments and activities in choir.

For our meetings on Monday, your Google Classroom page has the Google Meet link in the header. We will use that link for every class meeting to keep things as easy as possible for you.

REMIND APP:

The Remind codes should be texted to the number 81010, and will provide you with text updates. You can also download the app and enter the codes there. Check your email for the Remind codes.

SYLLABUS

Click here for the class syllabus. It has been especially designed for our remote learning situation, and provides details on how some of our classes will have the opportunity to sing together in person this fall, if desired!  Please keep in mind that we are all learning as we go, so we may have to change some things once we get started.

I am really looking forward to meeting our new students and continuing to work with all of our returning members. Thank you for enrolling in choir, and I am excited to see what this year brings!  Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions.

Sincerely,

Mr. Luginbuhl

IHSA Solo & Ensemble Contest Volunteer Lists

The NCHS Music Department is hosting the IHSA Solo & Ensemble contest this year on Saturday, March 7.  Not only is this a fantastic musical experience for our students, but it is also the largest fundraiser our department collaborates on every other year.  Money from this event helps us purchase investments we share as a department such as uniforms, music stands, pianos, etc.  As we will be moving over 1000 students through our building that day, we need over 120 volunteers to help provide both this musical and financial opportunity for our music students.  There are many different jobs available for both students and parents alike, and we really need to get the lists filled up quickly.  Please click on the links below and donate just a few hours of your time to our students - they are truly a worthy investment!
